A 23-year-old man who drove away after being pulled over by Atlanta police was captured after he hit a median and started running.

Vajuan Cloud faces several charges in the incident, which began at 4 p.m. Monday when an officer stopped him for having a broken window, Officer Kim Jones with Atlanta police said. As the officer got out of his patrol car, near I-75/85 south and University Avenue, Cloud drove away, Jones said.

The suspect drove westbound on Ga. 166, but exited the vehicle after striking the median near Stanton Road, Jones said. He then ran into the woods before being apprehended by Atlanta and East Point officers, Jones said.

An officer, whose name was not released, sustained minor injuries to his hand while chasing the suspect, Jones said.

Officers recovered a weapon that Cloud allegedly threw from the vehicle and ammunition, Jones said. Cloud, a convicted felon driving on a suspended license, faces traffic and weapon charges, she said.
