Cobb County police were searching Saturday for suspects in the overnight fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man on Six Flags Parkway.

The man, identified as Joseph Owens, was outside the West Chase Apartments complex in Austell when he was shot around 10:30 p.m. Friday, according to police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce.

Owens ran a couple hundred yards before collapsing near a Marathon gas station. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the police spokesman said in a release.

The shooting was not near the Six Flags amusement park.

Police were searching for two black male suspects. One man armed with a handgun was described as 18 to 24 years old, 5 feet 9 to 5 feet 11 inches tall, light complexion, thin build, and with dread locks. He was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans.

The second suspect was described as 18 to 20 years old, 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10, thin and with medium complexion. His hair was in twists and he had a pierced eyebrow. He was wearing a white tank top and jeans and was carrying a black netted bag with a strap.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Cobb police at (770) 499-3945.
