A 45-year-old man faces a second armed robbery charge in connection with recent stick-ups in the northern suburbs of metro Atlanta.
Dunwoody police said Friday afternoon that they have obtained an arrest warrant for Edward Wardell Underwood, charging him with the armed robbery last month of a CVS at 1610 Mount Vernon Road. Underwood already was in custody for a heist Thursday at a CVS in Norcross.
In the Dunwoody incident, the victim was sitting at the CVS photo counter shortly before 6:30 p.m. May 25 when a man entered the store, displayed a black handgun and snatched the victim's purse, police said.
The bandit was described as a black male, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, weighing 180 to 190 pounds and wearning a black or gray hat and gray jogging pants. A similarly described man was wanted in connection with robberies earlier in the day in Gwinnett County and Sandy Springs, Dunwoody police said.
Earlier Friday, police in Norcross said Underwood had been arrested in connection with the robbery of a CVS at 5304 Buford Highway around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. A man had pulled out a handgun and demanded cash from the register.
Officers saw Underwood driving a white van near the scene after the robbery and arrested him without incident.
Norcross police said he is suspected in robberies in Sandy Springs, unincorporated Cobb County, Lilburn and unincorporated Gwinnett County.
Dunwoody police said Underwood has no present address that they know of but previously lived in Decatur, Marietta and Conyers. Anyone with information about the suspect or the robbery was asked to call Dunwoody police Detective Andrew Thompson at 678-382-6921 or email Andrew.thompson@dunwoodyga.gov.
