A Gainesville man has been convicted of vehicular homicide in the death of a woman who fell out of the Jeep he was driving on Ga. 400.

Colon Louis Hartzler, 45, was convicted Friday of vehicular homicide and DUI, the Gainesville Times reported. Police said Hartzler was driving under the influence of alcohol when passenger Jenna Fitzgerald fell out of the vehicle as he made a left turn onto Carlisle Road from Ga. 400 south in Dawson County. The incident happened on June 25, 2010.

After falling out of the Jeep, which had no passenger side door, Fitzgerald was hit by a minivan, the Times reported.

Sentencing is set for March 22.
