A man was charged with felony murder Sunday for a triple shooting that left one person dead earlier this month in southwest Atlanta, police said.

Caheran Carter, 23, is accused of shooting three people in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 500 block of Windsor Street on July 14.

When officers arrived on the scene around 11:20 p.m., all of the wounded were being being taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in privately owned vehicles, Atlanta police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.

Two people — one shot in the hand, the other in the knee, buttocks and abdomen — are expected to survive their injuries, she said. The third victim, who was shot in the abdomen, died at Grady.

Carter was booked into the Fulton County Jail on Thursday. In addition to murder, he also is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and probation violation of a previous robbery case, according to jail records.
