Malaysian festival

The Malaysian Association of Georgia held its Malaysia Fest at the Duluth Town Center. The group was formed in the summer of 2005 by several Malaysians in Atlanta. It now has more than 200 members in the area.

The Malaysian Association of Georgia was formed in the summer of 2005 by several Malaysians in Atlanta. Its primary purpose is to gather Malaysians in the spirit of friendship and to promote Malaysia among non-Malaysians. MAG has over 200 members in the area.

Jesslyna De Rozario performs the Ngajat Iban, a dance from one of Malaysia's minority indigenous tribes known as the Iban.

Batik with floral motifs hangs in one of the many booths for sale at Malaysia Fest. Batik is an Indonesian and Malay word that refers to a dyeing technique used on textile.

Stanley Hu, 9, gets a front-stage view of the Lion Dance performances during the festival. Hu said he likes the colors of the outfits.

Dance troupe (left to right) Boh Ying Leong, Fidie Ramli and Wei TIng Yap perform the Asmaradana, a fusion Malay dance loosely translates to "The gift of love, " a dance skill that incorporates movements from martial art, traditional Malay and other Southeast Asian dance moves.

The festival, a free event open to the public, had 30 vendors and more than 500 visitors.
