Two major wrecks wreaked havoc on the highways Friday morning.

A tractor-trailer wreck blocked all lanes of I-285 northbound at Cascade Road around 10 a.m. No one was injured, and the accident was cleared around 11 a.m., the Georgia DOT said.

Northbound traffic was being routed off the interstate at Cascade Road and was reentering the interstate on the other side of the intersection.

Earlier, an eight-vehicle wreck with injuries snarled traffic on I-85 southbound at the height of the morning commute.

The wreck occurred around 8:15 a.m. near I-85 and Monroe Drive. Four of the five lanes of the interstate are blocked, and northbound traffic is backed up due to rubbernecking. Southbound traffic was backed up to Clairmont Road and surrounding surface roads, including Lenox and Cheshire Bridge, were jammed up also.

There were no serious injuries, the Georgia State Patrol said.
