The Georgia DOT will begin repair work Monday to the State Route 53/Dawsonville Highway westbound bridge over the Chattahoochee River portion of Lake Lanier.

Work includes removing the rough surface, repairing, and installing a new epoxy coating to protect the new, smooth driving surface. The cover plates and bridge joints will be replaced and the entire bridge will be painted to prevent rusting.

The majority of the work requiring lane closures will occur 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnights and weekends. The week of Oct. 26 crews are planning to work under the bridge putting scaffolding together. Traffic will not be impacted.

In addition, Georgia DOT will remove damaged asphalt and place new, smooth asphalt 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. next week on State Route 369 /Jesse Jewell Parkway. The outside eastbound lane will be closed as crews work. Extreme delays are expected.
