A multi-vehicle crash with injuries temporarily shut down three eastbound lanes of I-20 and led to major delays in Cobb and Douglas counties Thursday.

A call about the crash on Six Flags Drive came in just before 6:30 a.m., Cobb County fire spokeswoman Denell Boyd said. Three vehicles were involved in the crash, but injuries were minor, she said.

However, trip times on I-20 were not minor. Though authorities reopened I-20 just before 7:30 a.m., delays stretched back before Lee Road, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

“We’re sending a gridlock alert in from the western suburbs,” traffic reporter Mark Arum said.

North of I-20, use Bankhead Highway as an alternate. Below I-20, take Fairburn Road to Campbellton Road, the Traffic Center reported.
