The Mableton Improvement Coalition will host a community meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 at the South Cobb Community Center on whether Mableton should be a city.

MIC President Joel Cope said, in Thursday’s MIC email newsletter, that MIC is not taking a position on this topic.

“In keeping with our tradition of providing forums for information exchange for the community, MIC wants to share information to help residents understand the issues and make informed decisions,” Cope said.

Speakers will address such issues as the process of how a city is formed, the services a city would need to provide and tax impacts for the residents of a new city. The speakers will come from existing cities, such as Sandy Springs, as well as those who are advocating for cities now such as Tucker and South Fulton. The South Cobb Community Center is at 620 Lions Club Drive, Mableton.
