Warm, sunny days and cool nights will be the weather story this week, as metro Atlanta begins the transition from summer to fall.

Afternoon highs will be about normal for mid-September, while overnight lows will be a few degrees below normal.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton is predicting a dry week, with highs in the mid-80s Monday and Tuesday, cooling slightly to around 82 or 83 the rest of the work week.

Lows will be in the low 60s, Minton said.

The normal high for Sept. 10 is 84, the normal low 67.

Temperatures early Monday were as much as 15 degrees below that normal low, ranging from 52 in Peachtree City and 54 in Dunwoody to 58 in Marietta and 61 at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
