Jane Matthews, a teacher at The Goddard School of Kennesaw who died March 21 after a battle with cancer, was honored by Chattahoochee Technical College for her commitment to early childhood education. The college awarded her an honorary degree and created a yearly scholarship in her name. The Goddard School owner Kay Erathara is also hosting a science fair and Easter egg hunt April 23 dedicated to her memory. The fair will be a fundraiser for cancer research. In 2009, Matthews organized the school's science fair.
