The Locust Grove City Council voted unanimously at its May 6 regular meeting to approve the annexation of three adjoining tracts totaling nearly 85 acres along the east side of Davis Lake Road, on both sides of Colvin Drive.

Also approved was a zoning designation of RA-city to replace the previous RA (residential agricultural) county zoning. The parties petitioned the city earlier this year for annexation, and their applications were officially accepted in February. The Henry County Board of Commissioners considered all three applications at one of its March meetings and raised no objections to any of them.

The landowners, whose requests were motivated by a desire to utilize city services, have expressed no plans to develop the property further or seek a future zoning change.
