The Locust Grove City Council voted Dec. 3 to annex approximately 98 acres on the west side of Davis Lake Road between Colvin Drive and Pine Grove Road.
The site was then rezoned from RA (residential-agricultural) to R-3 (medium/high-density residential). Henry County officials had previously objected to the proposed annexation because of the stated intention to zone the property for manufacturing and industrial uses, but the objection was withdrawn once the decision was made to keep a residential zoning.
The votes for both the annexation and rezoning were 3-2 with Keith Boone and Carlos Greer opposed. Under the city’s ordinances the applicant can submit a new rezoning request after 12 months.
