Brookview Elementary School was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after a motorist fled a traffic stop and led police on a foot chase in the area.

An employee of the school said the incident was over by 4 p.m.

Police said the motorist, who was not named, ran from his vehicle and into a vacant home near the school. Police eventually extricated the man from the attic.

The school is on Washington Road in East Point.
