Local accountant Laurie McClain will run for the District 1 Gwinnett Board of Commission seat this year.

McClain, a Republican, operates her own accounting firm, McClain & Company. She serves on the Gwinnett Water and Sewer Authority and on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, including the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce. She also has served on the Engage Gwinnett citizen advisory group and on the county commission chairman’s citizen budget review committee.

McClain is seeking the commission seat currently held by Shirley Lasseter.
