Lilburn votes to increase municipal court fines

After comparing their rates with neighboring jurisdictions, the Lilburn City Council approved a new fine schedule for Lilburn Municipal Court. The updated schedule brings the fines more in line with theses nearby cities.

The city will enact a $50.00 base increase per violation. Even higher increases will be placed on four more serious charges. These more significant crimes include possession of marijuana, shoplifting, reckless driving, and improper use of a center turn lane. Shoplifting in Lilburn will cost you $600, a reckless driving fine $900, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana will cost $1,000.
