Following a public hearing, the Lilburn City Council voted to approved text amendments to the Lilburn Zoning Ordinance of 2011. The amendments add or delete text, clarify or remove redundant language, provide consistency between codes, and add or amend sections in response to recommendations from city staff and the Planning Commission.

Among the updates, the zoning ordinance now calls for pedestrian lighting along the public right of way. Guidelines also include height and type of lighting fixtures. Other changes address landscaping and architectural features.

One environmental change will require all new commercial conveyor car washes to be designed with recycled water systems that recycle a minimum of 50% of water utilized.

In regard to livestock and fowl: ducks, quail, hens, turkeys, pigeons, pheasants and other fowl can be kept at home, but male roosters and male peacocks are “found to be a public nuisance animal and are not permitted.”
