In an effort to streamline the elections process, the Lilburn city council voted to change the qualifying period from five days to three days for future mayor and council seats. Candidates will qualify during the first three days of the last week of August.

A three-day qualifying period is more typical among local municipalities than a five-day period, according to City Attorney Richard Carothers.
