The Lilburn City Council held a public hearing Monday for a revised Tax Allocation District Redevelopment Plan and boundary map. A TAD Redevelopment Plan was approved in 2008, but was stalled due to the recession.

The proposed new and smaller boundary map includes Main Street in Old Town to the former Jackson Creek Water Treatment Facility at U.S. 29 and Indian Trail Road.

The TAD will allow Lilburn to use future taxes for roads, infrastructure and other public improvements to attract and support development, or to offer direct financial incentives to make projects feasible. Existing property owners within and outside the TAD are unaffected and their taxes will not increase unless values change.

A second TAD public hearing will held at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at City Hall, 76 Main Street.
