A 15-year veteran of the Lilburn Police Department resigned Monday amid an investigation of improper drug evidence handling. Investigator Kim Banks is under investigation by the Gwinnett County district attorney’s office.

An officer assigned to the department’s evidence unit discovered irregularities in prescription drug evidence on Friday afternoon, Feb. 7, and notified Chief Bruce Hedley. Hedley contacted the Gwinnett County district attorney’s office and began an internal investigation. Banks resigned during the internal affairs investigation on Monday morning, Feb. 10.
