Lilburn Police Chief Bruce Hedley is asking residents to stay off the roads during this weekend’s forecasted snowstorm.

“We ask that all citizens remain at home and not travel on any roadway during inclement weather,” Hedley said in a statement Thursday.

The Lilburn Police Department and the city of Lilburn are working to prepare for the storm, which could dump up to five inches of snow in North Georgia.

The police department will be fully staffed through the weekend, and officers’ vehicles will be outfitted with snow chains.

Lilburn’s public works department is pre-loading its vehicles with sand to treat snowy roads, and employees will be “subject to call-out” through the weekend, City Manager Bill Johnsa said in a statement.

The city will activate its city hall emergency operations center if necessary.
