Lilburn will open the city’s new, expanded playground at Lilburn City Park, 76 Main St., following a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. April 13.

The new park is the result of a 2015 survey that indicated more than half of park users wanted to see new playground equipment with a toddler area. The renovated playground includes separate areas for younger and older children, new equipment, a softer playing surface, better wheelchair accessibility, and greater visibility across the playground.

The two main structures are designed for ages 2 to 5+ years and 6 to 12+ years based on developmental abilities. Each includes a slide and multiple mental and physical challenges with climbing, balancing, pulling, spinning, bouncing, and jumping opportunities. The expanded playground area also features several multi-purpose walls that provide a visible and physical perimeter that can also be used for seating.

The new playground was funded using 2017-2023 SPLOST dollars. Information: www.cityoflilburn.com.
