A Lilburn man was sentenced Thursday to 17 years in prison followed by three years on probation for firing a gun in an apartment complex, killing a 13-year-old boy.

Joshua Banks, 26, was convicted last month of involuntary manslaughter in Gwinnett County. Assistant District Attorney Karen Harris said Banks has' four prior felony offenses on his record, so he will not be eligible for parole.

Banks was drunk when he fired a stray bullet into the air in January 2010 at Holland Park Apartments in Lawrenceville. The bullet pierced the window of Tre Shambry's bedroom and killed him.
