The Lilburn city council voted Monday evening to reduce the speed limit along Main Street from 30 to 25 mph. The decision was made in part due to the city’s new roundabouts, which are designed for 25 mph speed.

In addition, the city will request a Georgia Traffic Engineering Department review of the speed limit ratings on Main Street and Pleasant Hill Road.

The request will also ask the state to approve the use of speed detection devices to enforce the existing 45-mph speed limit on Pleasant Hill Road from the city limits to Lawrenceville Highway.
