The Lilburn Police Department is accepting applications for its inaugural Citizen Police Academy.

Classes will start Jan. 9 and will meet from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday for eight weeks.

The program, which educates the public on law enforcement matters, is free but requires a police background check. Tuesday is the deadline to submit applications, which can be downloaded at www.cityoflilburn.com.
