Following a public hearing Monday, the Lilburn City Council approved changes to the city’s zoning ordinance and map. The zoning map assigns each parcel to a specific zoning category and outlines overlay districts for development activity within city limits. Changes include modification to height and setbacks for consistency as well as added architectural standards to commercial districts.

The Lawrenceville Highway/U.S. 29 Corridor Overlay District is a set of additional development regulations along the city’s main thoroughfare, such as architectural and landscaping requirements. The new map expands the overlay boundaries to include more properties along the city’s other major corridors, including Pleasant Hill Road, Beaver Ruin Road, Indian Trail Road and Rockbridge Road.
