Lilburn looked within its own ranks to find a new police chief, elevating acting chief Bruce Hedley into the role permanently.

Hedley started in his new role  Tuesday. He most recently served as the department's deputy chief.

Hedley replaces former Police Chief John Davidson, who was fired last month after five years in the position. City officials have provided no reason for Davidson’s dismissal.
