Johns Creek city officials are warning of an approaching long-term road closure.

Starting Jan. 5, Parsons Road will be shut down from Hampstead Way to Stonegrove Overlook for up to nine months as crews replace the aging Parsons Road Bridge over Johns Creek. The decaying 50-year-old bridge is just under a mile west of Medlock Bridge Road.

Residents and commuters should look to alternate routes, such as Abbotts Bridge Road. Public Works officials said the wider replacement bridge will include a trail on one side and a sidewalk on the other. The present bridge includes neither.
