Get a behind-the-scenes look at how Gwinnett County police officers do their jobs at the next Gwinnett County Police Department Citizens Police Academy.

The academy is a twice weekly program that will run from March 20 to May 10. Sessions meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Participants will tour the county jail and police department headquarters, use the department’s virtual firearms training system and learn what an officer does when he or she pulls over a driver. You can also learn about the department’s specialized units, including SWAT, K-9 and gangs.

All Gwinnett County residents aged 18 or older are eligible to apply. You must submit an application, which can be found online, and pass a driver's and criminal history check. Applications should be sent to citizenspoliceacademy@gwinnettcounty.com by March 13.
