Learn how to make your yard friendly to bees and other pollinators

It is estimated that one third of the food we eat is thanks to pollinators like bees, butterflies and flower beetles. That’s why it’s increasingly important for residents in metro Atlanta to have yards and gardens that are safe for bees and promote pollination.

If you’re unsure how to do that, DeKalb County is here to help.

The county’s Cooperative Extension Office is hosting a series of “Space for Pollinators” classes in locations around DeKalb over the next two months.

The classes cost $25; attendees will learn how to make their garden a “haven” for pollinators and how to construct their own native bee hotel.

To register or get more information, contact the DeKalb County Cooperative Extension Office at 404-298-4080 or email Sarah Brodd at smiths@uga.edu.
