Drivers in Gwinnett can learn about a widening and median project on Duluth Highway/West Pike Street in Lawrenceville at a public information open house 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30 at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.

The project will widen Duluth Highway/West Pike Street, formerly known as Ga. 120, from four to six lanes and add a concrete median between Ga. 316 and Hurricane Shoals, about a half-mile. The plans include turn lanes at key intersections and sidewalks on both sides of the street.

The Gwinnett County Department of Transportation, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Transportation, is managing the $3.1 million project. Gwinnett is contributing funding from the 2014 SPLOST program for engineering and right of way acquisition.

The project is expected to begin construction in 2022 and take 12 to 18 months to finish.
