The Lawrenceville City Council voted recently to close a portion of old Jackson Street as part of the municipal street system. The city has determined that a portion of the former Jackson Street has ceased to be used by the public and serves no substantial public purpose. There is also nothing to be accomplished by leaving the street open to the public as part of the municipal street system.
The city is not abandoning the area, but will retain ownership of the .235 acres until some decision is made as to how to use the adjacent property, also owned by Lawrenceville. Currently the adjacent property is a parking lot.
