In preparation of the expansion of the Lawrenceville Performing Arts Center Complex, the Lawrenceville City Council recently and unanimously voted to rename the existing facility from Sikes Arts Center to Bobby Sikes Theatre.

Sikes served as Lawrenceville’s mayor from 2002 until his passing in 2006. Prior to his two time as mayor, he served on the city council for 14 years. Sikes was instrumental to the widening of Jackson Street to help reroute traffic off the square and bringing the Aurora Theatre to the city.

Approval of the name change will be reflected in new signage at the performing arts center complex.
