With priorities for safety and quality in mind for all participants, patrons, and city employees, Lawrenceville has made the difficult decision to cancel the Christmas Parade scheduled for Friday, Dec. 14 due to heavy rains and potential thunderstorms forecast all day.
A rescheduled parade is not possible this year, as a poll of event participants resulted in nearly 70 percent unable to return on a new date.
Nearly 70 employees, over 60 participating organizations and multiple volunteers have a role in the preparation or tear-down of the parade on Friday, handling metal barricades, electric floats and sound/lighting equipment from early morning hours to late evening hours – all of which are not safe or conducive to set-up in wet or thunderstorm conditions.
