Lawrenceville opened the doors to its new, much-anticipated $20 million Public Works Complex Feb.12. on 25 acres at 435 West Pike St. The facility brings together 122 employees from the city’s gas, electric, damage prevention, fleet maintenance, streets and sanitation departments.

“The new Public Works Facility represents the city’s continued efforts to move Lawrenceville forward as we strive to be the premier place to live, work and play in metro Atlanta,” commented Mayor Judy Jordan Johnson at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “While streamlining city services for the community as well as providing a quality work environment for our employees, this facility also serves as a catalyst for current redevelopment activity and future growth for our great city.”

The 66,000-sq.-ft. complex includes three buildings, a mezzanine space and additional capacity for growth and future expansion if needed. The project also incorporates 240 parking spaces and new intersection improvements.
