As Lawrenceville works to add sidewalks along Crogan Street, the city must obtain easements from the various properties to allow utility access — a task the public works department routinely handles.

One such property at 261 East Crogan St. is the home of the Georgia National Guard Armory. Because the property is owned by the State of Georgia, Lawrenceville is required to pass a specific resolution for this one stretch of sidewalk to acquire a utility easement for an existing water line across the property.

A resolution requires approval by the city council, which was granted at the most recent monthly council meeting. The upgrade will now provide a sidewalk for pedestrian access along this roadway including the Georgia National Guard Armory facility.
