Lawrenceville and the Lawrenceville Housing Authority have partnered with Trees Atlanta to plant 80 native shade trees and 1500 shrubs inside the Lawrenceville city limits.

The project is part of the housing authority’s ongoing efforts to redevelop aging properties that were originally built in 1950s and 1960s. They are nearing completion of the first phase of replacement units in the Thompson Square development at 188 Constitution Blvd.

The goal is to create a safe, enjoyable environment where families can raise their children surrounded with greenery and playground areas.

Volunteers are needed Oct. 5, 12, 26 to help plant the trees and shrubs. Expert tree planters from Trees Atlanta will teach volunteers how to correctly plant trees and shrubs and we will provide all of the necessary tools. Volunteers just need to dress for getting dirty and bring drinking water in reusable containers.
