The Lawrenceville City Council will offer citizens two more opportunities to provide input on the proposed 2017 millage rate at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. July 12 in the 4th floor council chambers at City Hall, 70 South Clayton St. The first of three public hearings on the millage rate was held last week.

The city is proposing keeping the property tax rate the same at 2.025 mills instead of lowering it to the rollback rate. Without the rollback rate, property owners will see a small tax increase that will result in a 15.4 percent net revenue increase for the city. For a home with a market value of $175,000, owners will pay about $8.12 more in taxes. Non-homestead property owners with property valued at $550,000 will pay about $25.52 more.

Following the final public hearing, the city council will vote to adopt the millage rate at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 12 during the regular council meeting.

During the 6:30 p.m. public hearing, the public may also review the city’s proposed 2017-2018 budget. Another public hearing on the budget will be held at 5 p.m. July 24 with a vote to adopt the budget to be held Aug. 7.
