Lawrenceville Highway reopened after gas leak stops traffic

Lawrenceville Highway has been reopened after a gas leak in Lilburn shut it down for nearly two hours, Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services said.

A construction crew hit a 4-inch main gas line around 8:50 a.m., causing the leak, the fire department said. Firefighters responded to the scene 4400 block of Lawrenceville Highway.

The road was shut down in both directions at Wynne Russell Drive in Lilburn. The gas leak was deemed under control and the road was reopened at 10:22 a.m.
