Lawrenceville grant to improve sidewalks

The Lawrenceville City Council voted April 8 to authorize the city to apply for a Community Development Block Grant for renovation of broken, non-compliant sidewalks and walkways citywide in the housing project. The grant will be a joint project with the Lawrenceville Housing Authority with the city taking the lead in the project. Approval will allow the city to make housing project sidewalks handicap accessible and complaint with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and to resurface streets in the area.

The Lawrenceville Housing Authority operates 212 public housing units on 9 properties in the city.
