The Lawrenceville City Council heard no arguments against a proposed crematorium at a public hearing Monday. The proposed facility on 1.5 acres at 288 Hurricane Shoals Road near Highway 316 is currently zoned as a General Business District and is not near any residentially zoned property.

The strip mall structure is currently used by a church and personal training fitness center. The proposal plans for two suites at the North end of the center to be used as office, chapel, viewing and sales area while the suite at the South end of the building will house embalming and cremation services. The City Council tabled a vote on the issue for further review.
