The Lawrenceville City Council approved three contracts as part of the Walnut Grove/Highway 81 Pressure Improvement Project. The council awards $6.05 million to low bidder R.A.W. Construction, LLC to include a base bid of 3.39 million and an $2.66 million allowance for rock bore, clearing, and blast/hammer rock. This project consists of approximately 12.7 miles of 12-inch high-pressure steel distribution gas main to be laid from the city gate station on Highway 81 in Walnut Grove to an existing 12-inch main near Highway 20 at Hoke O’Kelly Mill Road.
Additionally, the council awarded $159,225 to JAN X-Ray Services, Inc. to X-ray 20 percent of the project. This service will examine the welds done by the general contractor to ensure there are no leaks in the pipeline.
In a separate contract, the council approved $2.45 million to overall low bidder, Consolidated Pipe & Supply Co., Inc. to provide materials for approximately 13 miles of 12-inch gas distribution pipe to run from the city’s Transco take station southeast to the Walnut Grove take station in Walton County.
The project is funded by the Capital Outlay Bond Proceeds Fund.
