The Lawrenceville City Council recently approved zoning changes and a permit request to build an assisted living/independent senior living facility on property that fronts the eastern side of Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, adjacent to the southern side of the railroad right-of-way. The land is presently undeveloped and wooded.

The applicant, Medical Partners LLC, is proposing a three-story, 147,175-square-foot development on the 5.49-acre lot. The facility will include 216 senior housing units, and 246 beds. These include a 24-bed memory care facility, a 91-unit assisted living wing, and a 101-unit independent living wing (including both one and two-bedroom units). The plan includes 141 parking spaces, ten of which are designated handicapped spaces.

This segment of Lawrenceville- Suwanee Road is anchored by the Gwinnett Medical Center campus and includes numerous ancillary medical office buildings along Old Norcross Road.

Approval by the council came with about 7 conditions related to architectural standards, landscaping and usage of the facility.
