The Alpharetta Fire Department fought for hours to put out a fire that destroyed a 5,000-square-foot house.

The massive fire on Gransley Court took multiple crews more than two hours to extinguish.

Alpharetta public safety spokesman George Gordon said nobody was home at the time. He said witnesses from neighboring homes said they heard an explosion before the fire started, but officials have not been able to verify that claim.

In a tweet, Alpharetta public safety said the house will be able to be rebuilt. Nobody was hurt in the fire.
