The city of Fayetteville will temporarily close one lane of traffic near its historic courthouse Dec. 3-15.

The left lane of Stonewall Ave. (Ga. Hwy. 54 eastbound) between Glynn Street and Lee Street next to the courthouse lawn will be shut down as part of a traffic study aimed at improving pedestrian safety near the courthouse square. The other two traffic lanes will remain open, as will all three lanes of Stonewall Avenue leading to the Glynn Street intersection.

Earlier this year the city announced plans to redesign the traffic flow of the larger downtown area, which will eventually include more pedestrian walkways and additional parking spaces to accommodate new development.
