Traffic may get a little harried on Johnson Ferry Road in downtown Sandy Springs for two weeks starting Sept. 16.

The two eastbound lanes of the street will be closed during that period between Sandy Springs Circle and Roswell Road. Traffic will be reduced from four lanes to two – one in each direction – while a big 550-ton hydraulic truck crane is assembled in the roadway.

Once put together, the crane will lift six, 100-foot trusses to support the roof of the Performing Arts Center at City Springs.

The crane will arrive at the job site in sections and be pieced together by an assist crane. The machine will take up a space measuring 65 by 30 feet and will soar 197 feet from the ground.
