The timeline for construction on U.S. 78/Ga. 10 Loop in Athens has been modified. Construction crews working with the Georgia Department of Transportation will begin single lane closures from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. nightly beginning in mid-April.

Crews working for C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. will be allowed to work Monday through Sunday, except for weekends that feature UGA home football games. On these weekends, the loop will remain open in order to compensate for additional traffic.

The $10.8 million project in Clarke County is expected to be complete by December, assuming weather cooperates.

The project will begin just north of the Milledge Avenue Bridge and extend south of U.S. 78/Ga. 10. Crews will perform milling, inlay, and plant mix resurfacing across approximately 12 miles of the corridor (including travel lanes, shoulders, and exits).
