Despite the recent heavy rains, Peachtree City officials note that work on Lake Peachtree is not finished and the lake is not yet being allowed to refill.

Bad weather last spring and this fall have slowed the project, which is due to be completed later this month. The lake level must be lowered again in order to complete the dredging and the cutting of vegetation that grew in the lake bed. Once the vegetation is cut, the lake will be allowed to refill and the floating plant material will be removed. Residents are asked to keep away from the construction area, including Drake Field, until the work is finished.
