Hikers on the Laurel Ridge Trail at the south end of Lake Lanier are advised that the trail section between Lower Overlook and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Project Office has been closed due to fall/slip hazards and tree removal.

"Please avoid this section by walking back up the road to Buford Dam Road and cross at the afforded trail crossings to complete the loop back to your vehicle," the Army Corps said in a Facebook posting.

There is no projected date for that section to be safe for use.

The Lower Pool West, Lower Overlook and Turnout parks were closed Jan. 29 due to inclement weather, the Army Corps said, but are now reopened. Information: https://bit.ly/2d32DR5
